2024 Innovations Program

The future of farming is at Canada's Outdoor Farm Show

The Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show 2024 Innovations Program presented by Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness is where we feature the latest ideas and products in farming and showcase innovative solutions for Canadian farmers.

The Innovations Program recognizes companies for their creative solutions in five categories:

Agronomics

New technology that improves crop production including genetics, crop protection, product application (non-mechanical), and the process of producing a crop.

Business Solutions

New technology to assist farmers and agriculture professionals with the management and decisionmaking of their farm businesses and clients.

Environmental Sustainability

New technology that will help farmers enhance their stewardship while bringing value back to the farmer.

Equipment

New technology to assist farmers and agricultural professionals with enhancing production and increasing efficiency.

Livestock

New technology to enhance the production, health, and well-being of livestock animals.

How it works

Who can be nominated?

Approved exhibitors at Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show can apply for the  Innovations Program to showcase an innovative solution for Canadian farmers and be in the running for a Farmers’ Choice Award. Applications for 2025 open soon. The Selection Committee reviews the applications and selects the finalists (one or more in a category, depending on the number of entries).

How are the winners selected?

A selection committee determines the best entry in each category based on eligibility, relevance and quality of the application. The winner in each category will be chosen live on Monday, September 9th, during the evening Innovations in Agriculture Reception.

How does the Farmers' Choice Award work?

Once the winners are selected, each company is put forward for the Farmers’ Choice Award. Votes are collected through the Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show website the week following the show and the final Farmers’ Choice Award winner is announced on Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show social media platforms and website.

Agronomics

Thunderstruck Ag Equipment | TNT Cover Plates

The TNT Cover Plates are innovative because they address a fundamental issue with single-rotor combines, specifically the imbalance caused by the rotor’s spinning direction. Traditional designs do not control where the material drops onto the separating area, leading to inefficiencies and imbalances.

Business Solutions

CATTLEytics Inc. | Moo To Do Task Management

CATTLEytics empowers dairy farmers to optimize their existing resources and operations, ensuring maximum efficiency and productivity within their current quota. Our data-driven solutions enable better herd management, enhanced feed efficiency, proactive health management, and streamlined processes.

Environmental Sustainability

LEMKEN | LEMKEN Solitair DT Seedbed Prepping Seeder

The Solitair DT Seeder provides Canadian farmers with a machine that creates a seedbed and precisely places seed and fertilizer in a single high speed pass minimizing the impact of tillage by reducing the risk of erosion and moisture loss.

Equipment

Duke Distribution | Altoz Switch

From Duke, Distribution of G.C. Duke Equipment, represented by Mark Peart.

The Altoz Switch is a groundbreaking stand-on tool carrier designed for versatility and efficiency across all four seasons. Equipped with tracks and a quick-attach system, it accommodates multiple attachments, making it ideal for both commercial and agricultural applications.

Livestock

BioFerScience Inc. | ProFlora Cattle ENERGY-BALANCE Capsule

The elevated ketone levels in dairy cattle can cause symptoms such as reduced milk production, loss of appetite, lethargy, and in severe cases, neurological signs. Effective management involves ensuring adequate nutrition and energy intake, and in some cases, administering treatments to correct the metabolic imbalance.
