Live crop demonstrations are a highlight of Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show (COFS), allowing attendees to see real-life crops and crop protection products and speak to reps. The exhibits are concentrated along 1st Lane and North Mall, as well as on 6th Lane. Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show is pleased to host over a dozen crop plots at the show this year.
Dow AgroSciences:
Enlist and PowerCore are new at Dow AgroSciences. The Enlist™ weed control system is now approved in key export markets and Enlist corn will be available for the first time for 2018 planting. Enlist soybeans are fully registered in Canada and are awaiting key export market approval. Enlist corn hybrids include brand new high-yielding genetics, some with our new PowerCore™ above-ground insect control trait. Visit the Dow AgroSciences plot to see our corn and soybean crop tolerance demonstration, right beside sensitive crops, highlighting Enlist Duo™ herbicide on-target application with near zero volatility. There’s lots happening at Dow Seeds! We are launching nine new hybrids with PowerCore® – a robust, three-gene trait stack that delivers the best control of five of the most serious above-ground insect pests in corn, including black cutworm. Also new this year – Dow Seeds is offering 17 new corn hybrids with the Enlist™ trait. The Enlist corn trait will be available a s both Sma r t Stax® Enlist and PowerCore® Enlist hybrids, offering an industry-leading package of weed control and insect protection. Growers can order Enlist corn exclusively from Dow Seeds Seed Partners this fall.

DuPont Pioneer:
The team at DuPont Pioneer are pleased to launch a new class of Pioneer® brand products for 2017, growing and further strengthening their current lineup. This release reflects the significant investment DuPont Pioneer makes in research, using the very latest in advanced breeding and research technologies, combined with multiple years of intense local testing. This class is unrivalled in the number of products, yield potential and overall agronomic performance. But the evaluation doesn’t stop yet. Farmers are invited to participate at their exhibit to take an even closer look at these products and other new services like Encirca SM.
Elite Seeds /Agromart:
The Elite Seeds demonstration plot will have on display a full season offering of both traited and conventional corn and soybean hybrids. This year, Elite Seeds will be showcasing Logan HD-R, a new Roundup Ready, leafy-floury corn silage hybrid bred specifically for milk production and the dairy industry. It features a high digestibility index, excellent yield characteristics and good disease resistance. Logan has a specific kernel type for silage combined with high digestible fiber content for milk production. Elite Seeds also offers a full line up of cereals and small grains which have been bred specifically for Canadian conditions.
Horizon Seeds:
This year we are displaying numerous top performing hybrids with different trait platforms across maturity zones. Trait platforms include high yielding conventionals, as well as varieties with the Agrisure Viptera trait for superior Western Bean Cutworm control, including HZ 4010 which also carries the Agrisure Artesian trait for drought stressed acres and HZ 1040 which offers tremendous yield potential. There are two silage-specific hybrids on display which offer tremendous tonnage and feed quality. Three brand new varieties HZ 3295, HZ 4255 and HZ 4037 will also be featured. Our soybean showcase includes RR2X and RR2Y varieties which will be sure to stand out on your farm. Altitude RR2Y is among the favourites and offers the highest yield potential and excels on the Ontario Performance Trials.
Maizex:
The Maizex plots this year will feature corn hybrids and soybean varieties that will be new for 2018, as well as the new Maizex Multi-Hybrid planter. Staff will be on-site to talk about the new Maizex N Tracker and how to manage Nitrogen based on field descriptions, soil N testing or rainfall data.
Monsanto:
Climate FieldView™ and DEKALB® present a Data Driven Farming Demo. Climate FieldView is the first integrated support tool that helps you protect yields and optimize inputs through seamless data flow and visualization. The DEKALB® seed brand provides the leading combination of high performing products, innovative technology, and agronomic knowledge. Together, Climate FieldView and the DEKALB brand will be hosting demonstrations that will allow farmers to learn more about getting their data in one place and using it to make more informed operating decisions on their farm with their DEKALB seed. Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association:
The Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association (OSCIA) is pleased to work with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) to showcase a number of innovative field demonstration plots and tent displays. Topics this year include: corn diseases and foliar fungicides; soybean foliar fungicide trials; a soil pit to assess root development of various cover crops and illustrate compaction effects; a demonstration of soil amendments to improve organic matter; industrial hemp; sweet stalk sorghum; along with a showing of other innovative cropping ideas. Tree management options on your farm are also demonstrated. County and Regional soil and crop improvement associations will demonstrate local soil health initiatives underway in their regions. Pride Seeds:
Located at the PRIDE Seeds Pavilion, the site will offer Canadian farmers an upclose, first-hand view of key commercial products, including a full maturity range of high performance PRIDE ‘G’ and ‘C’ series corn hybrids as well as industryleading PRIDE XRN soybeans. In addition, to support PRIDE’s Total Ration Solutions silage program, demo plots featuring tested-proven silage hybrids and alfalfa varieties will also be showcased.
