Woodstock, ON., June 9, 2021 – With the busy June growing season well underway for farmers, Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show speakers will share key updates at the Getting on with Growing – Vigilance in Crop Care digital event day on June 16, 2021.
“June is such a busy month for farmers, but it’s still an important time to stay up-to-date on production tips and what’s new,” says Doug Wagner, President of Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show. “To support our farm audience and their busy schedules, we’ve optimized our event platform to be mobile-friendly so farmers can easily watch sessions on their devices from a tractor, truck, field office or from a computer at home.”
The digital event day runs from 8:55 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. EDT, with presentations covering ways to get more out of your crop. A wide variety of topics will be covered, including:
- Redirecting Your Nitrogen Fertilizer to Your Crops: Dr. Craig Drury, Research Scientist with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, will talk about nitrogen application options − from application processes to nitrogen inhibitors − and how these processes fit with 4R Nutrient Stewardship.
- Rye Cover Crop Establishment Options into Soybeans: Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs specialists Ian McDonald and Jake Munroe will give an update on research done at the Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show site in late-summer and fall 2020 through mid-spring 2021.
- What’s New in Fungicides from Bayer: Learn about the newest fungicide from Bayer for 2021, Delaro® Complete. This new fungicide offers outstanding control of major corn and soybean diseases. Plus, join the FieldView team to discover how to conduct fungicide trials on your own farm.
- In-season Updates From the Field: Hear from local NK Seeds Canada Agronomists about what to watch out for this season in your crops.
- Cultivating Resilience: At this workshop by Lauren Van Ewyk, an Ontario Federation of Agriculture member, farmer and registered social worker, attendees will learn more about mental wellness in agriculture, plus helpful coping strategies to address anxiety, depression and build resiliency.
